KNIGHTHOOD REFUSED
(Received October 3, 11 a.m.) LONDON, October 2. The "News of the World" says that the King offered Mr. Chamberlain a Knighthood of the Garter, the highest! honour bestowable upon a citizen, but that Mr. Chamberlain respect-j fully declined it, preferring to remain! a plain Mister.
