The Bank of New Zealand, produce department, has received the following advice from its London office, under date September 30:—The sales have closed firm for all kinds of wool. Current quotations for wools of average condition:—Merino, super, 60-64's, 14d to 14id, ordinary 60-64's 12d to 13d, inferior 60-64's 9£d to lOd; halfbreds, 56-58's 12d to 12£ d, 56's llid to 12d, 50-56's lid to llid; crossbreds, 50's 10|d to lid, 48-50's IOJd to 10? d, 46-48's lOdto lOfd, 44-46's lOd to lOfd, 40-44's lOd to 10fd, 36-40's lOd to 103 d. Murray, Roberts, and Co., Ltd., are in receipt of the following wool market cablegram from their London agents, dated September 30:—Sales have closed firm, competition good; Bradford buyers principal operators; Continental buyers operating moderately; compared with last London sale's closing rates, scoured merino best, par to 5 per cent, advance; scoured merino, other descriptions, par to 5 per cent, decline; greasy merino, "market shows no change; crossbred greasy fine, par to 5 per cent, advance; crossbred greasy coarse to medium, advanced 5-10 per cent.; crossbred scoured, market shows no change; slips crossbred, par to 5 per cent, advance. The wool sales .concluded with an offering of 8861 bales, including 6004 from New Zealand, and 7019 bales were sold. For a moderate selection there was an active demand, especially for crossbreds.

New Zealand greasy merinos, St. Helens, sold at 9§d average and lid highest. Throughout the series 84,800 bales were offered, including 38,300 from New Zealand, and 71,000 bales were sold, including 34,000 from New Zealand. The Home trade bought 43,500 bales and the Continent 27,500 bales. Greasy merinos finished at from par to 5 per cent, higher; scoured merinos at par; greasy crossbreds, fine, par to 5 per cent, higher; medium and coarse, 5 per cent, higher; scoured crossbreds, fine, par; medium and coarse, 5 per cent, higher.
