WORK AT COLLIERIES

Decision was reserved by the Court of Appeal yesterday afternoon in the case stated by the Court of Arbitration between J. Jenkins, shiftman, and A. Wilkinson, trucker, the plaintiffs, and Glen Afton Collieries, Ltd. The point at issue is the definition of a full working week for the basis of compensation, the plaintiffs holding for a . six-day week and the defendant for a five-day week. Mr. C. J. O'Regan appeared for the plaintiffs, and Mr. H. P. Richmond (Auckland) for the defendant.

The Court consisted of the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers), Mr. Justice Callan, and Mr. Justice Northcroft.
