LOCH NESS MONSTER
PROTECTIVE MEASURE URGED
(By Air Mail, from "The Post's" London Representative.) LONDON, August 22. Sir Murdoch Macdonald, M.P., who is spending his holidays among his constituents in Inverness, has written to the Secretary of State for Scotland asking that immediate steps be taken to prevent any action that might endanger the life of the mysterious creature that inhabits Loch Ness. The reason for the request is the rumour that a party 'from London has arranged to try and capture or harpoon it
Sir Murdoch Macdonald (says, the "Times's" Inverness correspondent) asks that the police be given instructions to see that nothing is left undone to. prevent what would be" an unwarranted piece of vandalism. He states that some five years ago he Avrote the late Sir Godfrey Collins, then Secretary for Scotland, asking that the police should be instructed to see that no persons interfered with the monster, and Sir Godfrey Collins wrote in reply that the chief constable of Invernessshire would take steps to warn residents and as many visitors as possible that nothing must be done to endanger the life of the creature.
Sir Murdoch has stated that if nothing can be done he will ask that a short BiU be introduced into Parliament for the safeguarding of the creature. There was a precedent for such action, he said, in the famous case of Pelorus Jack, which was specially protected by the New Zealand Government
