PLAYERS AND TEAMS
In support of his criticisms of last week, "Half Back" has written another letter giving details of alleged infringe ments.;
"I was considerably surprised last Saturday," he says, "to see a certain player playing for Wellsteel after '«ea». ing him play during the season tog
both Canisters and Pallo. Wellsteil also had, last Saturday, a player -who has played more or less regularly for Bergers this season. They also had another player in their team last Saturday who turned out for Pallo the previous Saturday. Wellsteel are not the only sinners where the breaking of the rules are concerned; I could give numerous . instances of the **j De breaches being committed by owe!1 teams, and could produce enough evidence to prove that the rules might as well never have been framed for aU the notice that is taken of them 0/ clubs x and players."
M. Thomas,' who played junto* football in Wellington last season, and who has suddenly shot into th* hine* light this year with some brilliant play at first five-eighth for Hawke s Bay—he scored nineteen points against Auckland the previous Saturday—was too well marked in the Manawatu game to make any outstanding moves. But he was quick to seize an opportunity that offered. Thomas is probably better remembered in Welling ton as a cricketer than, a footballer. H« has represented Wellington i* lbs) summer game. -
