NOW BANKRUPT

COMPOSER OF, WELL-KNOWN

SONGS

(Received January 29, 2 ,pjn.)

LONDON, January 28.

A bankruptcy petition has been filed in respect of Nat Dyer, who, during the Great War, set the Empire singing "If You Were the Only Girl in the World," from which song, he made £3000. He also composed-"Great Big Beautiful.Doll," "The Bing Boys," and other wartime-favourites. He told the "Daily Mail": "I am down but not out." He intends to continue composing, but pointed out that people became tired of new numbers too quickly. A song could live in pre-war days, but now it was dead almost as soon as it-left the composer's piano. ■
