GRAIN AND PRODUCE

CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS Despite the fact that the. weekend rain caused an easing off in offerings of pats on the Christchurch markets, indications are. that the yields will be better, than was anticipated some weeks ago. Top quality Algerians were bringing up to 3s, while Gartons, brought 3s for A grade and 2s 9d for B grade. Some good lines of milling wheat were to hand from North Canterbury. The barley yield should be good this year. Of three lines delivered, two threshed 70 bushels to the acre, while the third threshed 60 bushels. Ryegrass found a more profitable market, prices rising 3d for both perennial and Italian. : Following are quotations to farmers on trucks at country stations, sacks extra, unless otherwise stated:—• Oats: Gartons, 2s 9d to 3s; Algerians, 2s 9d to 3s; Duns, 3s to 3s 3d (according to quality'). Ryegrass: Perennial, 3s 3d to 3s 6d (according to quality); Italian/ 2s 9d to 3s. Chaff: £3 10s to £3 15s (according to quality). Flour: £13 15s 6d, in 2001b sacks. Bran: £4 15s to £5 5s (local price). Pollard: £6 5s to £6 15s (local price).
