AGREEMENT REACHED
An agreement was reached in the conciliation council yesterday afternoon in the concrete, pipe, pumice, and concrete goods industry for the Wellington district. Each party sought and agreed to a 40-hour week, and agreement was also reached on the following wage scales:— ;
Foremen, without/overtime, £6 a week; head moulders, 2s BJd an hour; metal moulders, 2s Bd;'Cement sprayers, 2s 7£d; junction fitters'and; pattern makers, ■2s 7d; concrete mixers, breeze block machinists, _pre-cast stone mixers, moulders lining pipes by the spraying process, 2s 6£d; metal reinforcement welders, metal reinforcement makers, concrete roofing tilers, assemblers, 2s'6d; concrete or pumice copper makers, 2s s£d; all other workers, 2s 4£d.
Ordinary holidays are to be observed as well as the days between Boxing bay and New Year's Day, which are to be observed as paid holidays.
The award also included country and. suburban work, clauses.
