PROSPECTS NOT BRIGHT

CHRISTCHURCH WOOL SALE

CATALOGUE FOR MONDAY

Prospects for the second Christchurch wool sale on Monday do not appear bright. While values at North island auctions do not afford a true comparison with South Island wools, there appears to be no doubt that the downward trend in values will affect local clips, comments the "Star-Sun." It is suggested that values may be as much as 2d a pound less than at the first Christchurch sale in December. The wool to be offered is not in the good condition usually associated with the second sale. Broken weather during the growing season has affected quality to a marked extent, and many of the ewe clips which comprise the bulk of the offering are covered with yolk stain. As is the case throughout New Zealand this season, the wool generally is a full count finer than last year. The wool comes mainly from the plains, with a number of back-country and Chatham Islands clips. The offering totals 30,103 bales, the allocation being 30,000 bales. . The order of sale and allocations are:--Bales. 1. N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd •• .2123 2 Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd. 9705 3. N.Z. Farmers' Co-op. Assn.,' Ltd 4794 4. H. Matson and Co .-.. 2686 5. Dalgety and Co., Ltd 7594 6. National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd. 3201 Total ■■..■■... 30,103 \ ■
