MINISTER'S TOUR
THAMES VALLEY NEEDS

TE AROHA, This Day.
The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. R. Semple) arrived at Te Aroha from Paeroa last evening and attended the Caledonian ball. This morning he met deputations from the Piako County Council, Thames Valley Drainage Board, and the Chamber of Commerce.
The Drainage Board asked for a £3 to £1 subsidy, to carry out further work' of clearing willows in the Waitoa River. "The Minister said that full consideration would be given to the representations and a report obtained. The County Council placed a number of requests, the Minister replying that full consideration would be given to them, as the Government's aim was'to assist primary, producers.
The Minister was tendered a dinner at the Hot Springs Hotel by the Borough and County Council and the Drainage Board, and later left to inspect the district and river works.
