TRAM COLLISION

PASSENGERS SHAKEN

"SIDE-SWIPE" AT POINTS

Two Iramcars partly derailed each other by a collision which occurred last night about 10 o'clock between Moorchouse Road and Pitt Street at the point where the single track joins the double track on the tramway's right of way. Both . cars carried passengers, who were shaken but unhurt. Paint, woodwork, and glass suffered on both cars.

The form 9f collision was what is known in America amongst motorists as a "side-swipe," otherwise a glancing collision. It can seldom occur in the ca6e of rail traffic. A car from Wadestown coming down the hill was about to cross from the double to the single track just t as one going up was about to leave the single track for the double, and when they met the leading bogie of each was forced off the ijails, the two cars coming to a standstill alongside each other. The line was blocked until shortly after midnight, the only service to the district possible being made as far as the scene of the collision.

The crash of the collision was heard by residents in the "vicinity.
