Soviet military and naval activity is disturbing Japan, states the Tokio correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph." Fears of Russian intervention in China have \been revived. ' ,
Newspapers fully report Soviet preparations. Travellers assert that they have seen numbers of Russian submarines in Far Eastern waters.
The disciplining of the Bed army and navy is reported to be most severe. Troops are subjected tp rigorous active service training'daily. ' - ,
A foreigner who recently toured the Soviet Far Eastern territory (it was reported in a cable published yesterday) informed the "China Mail" that Japanese reports of Soviet, activities underestimated the position. He 'declared that the Soviet maritime provinces were virtually on a:war footing. A hundred submarines had been.commissioned 'at Vladivostock, the coastline was being fortified, and hundreds of warplanes'had been assembled. Spy mania was intense. ■
