ARMOUR-PIERCING BULLETS
s Rifles that fire bullets, through the armour plate of tanks, explode inside and kill the.crews, are to be issued to the British Army shortly, says* the "Daily Herald." While one group of experts has been working to improve the bullet-resistance of armour plate, their immediate "enemies," the gun experts, have been producing better guns and bullets. The present position, apparently, is that the bullet men have won. The new rifle is three times as heavy as the ordinary service rifle, with a bore twice its size, but, given some support, can be used from the ! shoulder. The bullet used is a cross between an armour-piercing missile arid an • explosive bullet. Gun experts have also been working on a considerably heavier, but very mobile, weapon capable of disabling ihe tank itself. This fires a small shell, able to rip open the armour.
