HATS FOR CHINESE GIRLS
Chinese schoolgirls must wear hats in the street, says a decree issued by the Government in response to a petition submitted;■. by.the' wife of Mr. Wang Ching-wci, a veteran Kuomintang leader, and chairman of the Central Political Council. Madame Wang urged that, according to the Chinese code of propriety, it was indecent for young women to go bareheaded in the street. The Ministry of Education nas [therefore been instructed to design 1 special' headgear • for schoolgirls to i wear as,, part of their uniform.
