When Lloyd' Hughes, the popiilai Hollywood star, came to Australia^ a the invitation of Cinesound, for th< starring role in "Lovers and Lug gers" his pretty red-haired wife, wh( /will be remembered as Gloria Hope of the silent screen days, came witl him. And this charming young Ameri can couple endeared themselves tc everybody, '. they met during their stay [The Hugtieses fell in love with Aus ! tralia, and Lloyd readily agreed tc Cinesound's suggestion that he alsc remain for the starring role in "The Broken Melody;" Thus their stay in ■Australia was extended to seven months, and the only obstacle to perfect happiness was the ever-present longing to get back to their two youngsters, Donald aged 10, and Isabel aged 5,.wh0 were at the family s homc in Los Angeles: Neither of the children has appeared in pictures, as both Mr. and Mrs. Hughes consider it wiser to let them develop in a normal way; without the limelight that is unavoidable in a movie' career.
