LOCAL JANUARY WOOL SALE

The gross proceeds of the wool sale held in Wellington on January 10 amounted to £404,536 4s 4d,. according to the official,- report of the Woolbrokers' Association. This compares with a return of £746,007 9s lid for the January sale of last year, and £283,926 13s 2d for the sale held here on December 8. , *

The two sales held in Wellington this season have returned to the growers a total of £688,463, representing a heavy drop from the figure of £1j396,671 for the first two sales of last;- season. The net weight of the wool sold was 8,989,6601b, compared with 1b,975j1971b in January, 1937. The amount purchased by local mills was 954 bales, compared with 776 bales at the corresponding sale last year.

The gross proceeds of the. iirst .two Wellington sales in the' 1933-34 season amounted to " £1,052,818; . 1934-35, £333,601; 1935-36, £725,501.
