GRANTS FOR FOUR YEARS

(British Official Wireless.) (Received January 26, 10.40 a.m.)

RUGBY, January 25,

A new line of research in preventive medicine was revealed by the Prime Minister at the annual meeting of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He stated that Imperial Chemical Industries was providing £2000 a year for four years for research into chemical immunity, the object being to isolate from the dead bodies of organisms which caused a number of diseases, including whooping cough, tyfflioid, cholera, and puerperal fever, those chemical constituents which could be injected into living persons to give them immunity without disagreeable or injurious reactions.
