By beating Victoria on the first in- j nings by 248 runs, New South Wales won from Victoria the Sheffield Shield. Victoria has still to play South Australia but the result of this gamej cannot prevent New South Wales from winning the trophy. Scores are:— j New South Wales, 371 and 112 for four wickets declared (Barnes 42, Chipperfield 34). Victoria, 123 (Has-| sett 57, Pearson 15; O'Brien three for! 44, O'Reilly three for 25, White three for 25) and 143 for five wickets at stumps (Ledward 24, Seivers 23, Pearson 51, including, two 6's; Mair two for 47). j
