Lady Shirtcliffe, Tinakori Road, with her niece, Miss Myra Bassett, returned last night from a visit to Waitomo, New Plymouth and North Egmont. Mrs. Seaward, England, who has spent ten months in the South Island, has arrived in Wellington and will soon be leaving for Home. She will be entertained by the Victoria League Committee before her departure. Mr. and Mrs. Godric Muntz and family will leave on Saturday by the Mataroa for England. Mrs. Noel Nelson, Tinakori Road, will leave by the Mataroa for a holiday visit to England. Mrs. W. S. Bean, who has been the guest of Mrs. Hay, Hill Street, will be leaving for her home in Christchurch this evening. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Miles and Miss Janet Miles, Wesley Road, who have bee.i spending the holidays at Paekakariki, have returned home. Mrs. Philip Nathan, Karori. will be a passenger by the Mataroa which is to leave Wellington for England on Saturday. The engagement is announced by the United Press Association of Miss Irma Hyder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hyder, of Lower Hutt, to FlightLieutenant Anthony G. Powell, third son of Canon Claude .Powell, St. Batholomew's Church. The Vicarage, Norfolk. Miss Diana Jameson, Hawke's Bay, will arrive in Wellington next week and will be the guest of Miss Janet Miles,. Wesley Road. Miss Blenkinsop, organiser of the Girls' Life Brigade, arrived in Auckland yesterday morning and was the guest of honour at a reception held by the Battalion of the Brigade, in the \ Unity Hall. Mr:.and Mrs. i-ficholson Miller, who have sold their home in Havelock North, are at present in Wellington and1 are staying at Antrim House. Beyin.of Wellington, in writing to a friend states that she was to have a concert in four days, and Gerald Moore was to play for her. She was very: busy making arrangements, and pleased at securing such a good accompanist. Miss Nancy Teschemaker, Blenheim, is visiting Wellington. : Mrs. Stansfeld Prior, the wellknown English pianist and lecturer, who arrived in Wellington by the Remuera on Saturday, is now visiting the South Island, where she is the guest of Mrs. G." J. Smith, Opawa. Miss Nancie Gray, Wellington, has returned from a visit, to Auckland. Mrs. A. W. Wells; Christchurch, who has been visiting Wellington, has returned south. Mrs.; R, W. Henry, Wellington, is visiting Auckland. Miss D. Jenkins, Wellington, is spending a holiday at New Plymouth. Miss X Orchard and Mrs. E. Jowett," Christchurch, arrived in Wellington this morning en route to Auckland, where they will spend three weeks. Miss L: Lake, Wellington, is visiting Cambridge, where she is the guest of Mrs. R. H. Feist. Mrs: ~J. G. Collins, "Hadleigh," Springfield Road. Christchurch, with her son John, left for England by the Rotorua. Mr. and Mrs. H. V. Squire and children^ who.have been staying with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lange, Patutahi, have returned to Wellington. Miss M. Thompson, Wellington, who has been visiting Lake Rotoiti, is now the guest of Mrs. E. Loisel, Tolaga Bay. Miss P. Acton-Adams, Tipapa, is also Mrs. Loisel's guest. Edwards, Inglewopd, who has been spending several weeks' holiday at Day's- Bay, has returned home. Mrs. F. E. Bowen, Wellington, is visiting Dunedin. Mrs. W. Graham, Wellington, is visiting Auckland. Mrs. Victor' Stoyce, Wellington, is the" guest of Mrs. R. S. Allwright, Hawera. Mrs. G. Patersori Campbell, Melbourne, who has been spending a month in Wellington with her mother, is now making a short visit to Dunedin where she is the guest of her sister-in-law, Mrs. C. J. Bell, Tainui.
Mrs. Spring Boun, wife of Captain Spring Boun, who will pilot the Empress of Britain while she is in New Zealand and Australian waters, left Auckland for Rotorua yesterday. At the end:'bf the week she will leave for Wellington, and; will make a tour of the South Island and will later visit Australia.
Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Higgins, Riccartpii, are in Wellington to meet Miss M. E. Higgins ;on her return from a trip abroad.

Mesdames Alex Anderson (Timaru), E.P. Cox, D. Winks (Hawera), G. Talbot <Motueka), G. N. Archer (Rangiora), Misses J. Talbot (Motueka), J. Anderson (Timaru), R. Newman (Toowoomba), J. Newman (Sydney), K. Tibbies (Greymouth) are staying at the Grand Hotel.
