At the Australian tennis championships the men's singles'were advanced to the quarter-finals, results of.which were: _G. Cramm defeated V. B. MO Grath 6-2, 3-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-0; I. .Biromwich defeated C. G. Mako, 6-4, 1-% 6-2- A. Quist defeated G. Holland, 5-7, 6-i, 6-1, 6-2; J. D. Budge defeated L. A. Schwartz. 6-4. 6-3, 10-8.
