YOUNG MAN DROWNED

A drowning accident is reported from Baton, the victim being Theodore Henry Price, aged 23. The young man was employed by his father on a farm and went to block an overflow from a water race. Later he was found drowned. He was attired in kneeboots arid an oilskin coat.

The association had conveyed these complaints to the Government, and the Minister of Labour had replied that the Government was desirous that the work' on the waterfront should be performed efficiently, and that the matter would receive full consideration. A serious view of the position was taken by the meeting, which adopted a suggestion by the Auckland chamber that the Government should be asked to appoint a Royal Commission to inquire into the matter.
