THE DROP IN WOOL

EFFECT IN THE SOUTH

i.By Telegraph—Press Association.)

DUNEDIN, This Day.

There was a decrease of more than a quarter of a million pounds in the gross proceeds from the first Dunedin wool sale this season as compared with the returns from the corresponding auction of the preceding sell- j ing season. About £119,000 of this season's large deficit is accounted for by a smaller offering at the opctoingj sale this year, there being about 7000.; fewer bales sold, but the remaining' £130.000 can be explained only by a! considerable drop i,n the level of wool values ruling at the 1937-38 auctions.

In England old telephone kiosks have been used as shelters for attendants, at petrol-filling stations.
