WANGANUI COUNTY RATES
With a 50 per cent, higher rate than in previous years, ratepayers in the Wanganui County met in protest, states "The Post's" representative. "Nothing has been said in the past when higher rates were struck, but the point has been reached when we cannot carry the burden," said one speaker. The County Engineer (Mr. R. R. Dawson) said that recent legislation had been responsible in no small measure. A committee was set up to visit the county office and go thoroughly into the question, as the ratepayers are determined to try and lower the rate.
