PLAY-READING GROUP

The initial evening of the Karori West Play-reading Group was held this week under the auspices of the Workers' Educational Association, and was a pronounced success. The readers, the Misses Maxwell and Grant, Mrs. Cotterall, and Messrs. Cotteral and Morell, gave an interesting interpretation of the characters. The plays read were "The Patchwork Quilt," by Miss F.eld, and "Five Birds' in a Cage." by Miss Jennings. The pathos of the former was well brought out, while ths humour of the latter play gave ample scope for amusement. The discussion which followed was both critical and appreciative, and greatly added to (.he value of the reading.
