ECLIPSE EXPEDITIONS
SYDNEY, June 10.
A radio message irom the leader of the New Zealand solar eclipse expedition, Mr. C. W. B. Michie, which went to Canton Island, states:— "The warship Wellington left Canton Island last night for Apia to the accompaniment of cheers from the American expedition's ship Avocet Prior to her departure, Mr. Betim,'er, an American artist, presented Mr. Michie with a painting of the New Zealand camp and instruments, a kindly thought which was appreciated by all. We have happy recollections of our friendship with the Americans, whose cordial relations and co-operation on Canton Island we have enjoyed.
"After the sustained suspense and activity, the Canton Island party is resting today and discussing the successful observations, which members consider .compensate for the arduous weeks of preparation and hundreds of miles of travel."
