THE KING'S BIRTHDAY
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—The Coronation is hardly over and wonderful words of loyalty ,and affection are still ringing in our fears and yet nearly everywhere in the Empire the "loyal" subjects are wrangling over what day would ■be a suitable one on which to celebrate our Sovereign's birthday. We can't avoid the. fact that our King was born on December 14. Why not observe it then? If, of course, it does not suit his ioyaj subjects to take a day on to celebrate, then. why dp so at all? What must his Majesty think of all these suggested dates for the observance of his birthday? However, if we must have a holiday, and it seems we must, why not observe Coronation Day in honour of our Royal Family? May 12 would, certainly not interfere with our Christmas trade although it might be a little early in the football seasdh. —I am, etc.,
