I FANFARE ' <^^^^^${. A weekly column of T f^iSfi'i' fp^| gossip on outstand- \ 1 ing new films, i " -, : t AX exciting new film team is intro- :, J\. ducod in Alexander Korda'» i- "Elephant Boy." The team is composed - o£ Sabu, the handsome 13-year-old t Indian boy "with a smile like the sun- .- rise.'1 and Iravatha, said to be the r world's largest elephant. "Elephant - Boy" is the screen version of Rudyard - Kipling's "Toomai of the Elephants," and r was directed by Robert Flaherty, whose ;- exceptional work in "Man of Arran" will . long be remembered." • "Green Light," Lloyd C. Douglas' sue- : cessor to "Magnificent Obsession," looks 1 like having an equally successful season in Wellington, judging by the Regent's big houses this week. • • • «VBW YORK FILM DAILY" deli scribes Claudette Colbert's work i in "Maid o£ Salem," the Regent's next l attraction, as her outstanding perform- - ance. This picture stars Fred MacMur- , ray with Claudette, and is directed by l Frank Lloyd, who gave us ''Cavalcade" . and "Mutiny on the Bounty." The little ; girl who gave such a sterling performance - in "These Three," Bonita Granville 3 figures prominently in the cast in a sim- - ilar type of, role. . '. \ :■■ 1 TTERE is a smart adaptation of a brilJtl liant stage play,''very, humorous and ! brimful of those comedy elements which j" amuse all types of audiences. ; The film . is "Call it a Day" which is still enjoying r enormous houses on.>.both, stage and r screen in U.S.A. A-formidable cast [ handles the comedy, amongst these being i Olivia dc Haviland, lan Hunter, Anita ! Louise, Alice Brady.''."Roland Young, . Frieda Innesbourt, Beryl Mercer, and [ Bonita Granville. "Call it a Day" comes to the Regent shortly. George Brent and Beverley Roberts co-star in "God's Country and the Woman," the Technicolour production of the tall timbcrlands. Some magnificent scenes are to be found in this film, which savours somewhat of "Come and Get It." THOROUGHLY enjoyed a screening of "Dreaming Lips," featuring Elizabeth Bersncr the other day. A very exceptional film this and one which justifies Elizabeth's place as one of the world's greatest nctroßSMs. It is coming to tho Regent after "Maid of-Salem"— my advice is "Don't miss it!" Au revoir until next week, Yours for entertainment, "THE MAN IN THE STALLS."
