J.C.W. COMIC OPERA.

The Auckland season of comic opera by the J. C. Williamson company headed by Gladys Moncrieff and Cecil Kelleway, ends on Saturday night. The repertoire of the company includes "Merry Widow," "Southern Maid," and "Maid of the Mountains." The company begins a provincial tour at Hamilton on Monday, working south to open in Wellington on June 26, and playing at Wangand, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Hastings, and Masterton en route. It would be difficult to imagine any other artist in the role of Teresa in "Maid of the Mountains" than Miss MoncrieiT, who made one of her biggest successes in that role. She makes an ideal Sonia in the Lehar operetta, and in "Southern Maid" is a fiery Dolores: The cheery Cecil Kelleway is a brilliant and versatile star who needs no introduction. Don Nicol, comedian, is endowed with much talent, and is no mean caricaturist as well as a stage favourite. Eric Bush, who shares the romantic leads with Arthur Clarke (a handsome six-foot Australian with a fine tenor voice, who it will be remembered was juvenile lead in the Australian film "The Hayseeds) is a most versatile actor, a splendid singer, and an accomplished dancer. He is a former surf champion of Australia. Lois Green, a dainty little actress, is a popular member of the company.. "
