NAPIER, June 9.
A fairly large King's Birthday crowd attended the opening of the Napier Park Racing Club's Winter Meeting today. The weather was fine, the course in splendid condition, and a good day's sport was provided. Totalisator investments were £6728,, against £4773 10s a year ago, an increase of £1954 10s. The favourites generally had a fair dfiy, winning four of the seven races, but there was a surprise in the final event, which Joviality won at a substantial price. . , Results were:— Moteo Hack Hurdles, £100; li miles. —1 Kentucky Song, 9.0 fW.
