TRENTHAM IMPROVEMENT

: In past winters the crossing from the training sheds to the centre of the course at Trentham has generally been a quagmire, so that he who ventured to the centre to watch the work without goloshes or gumboots was soon in a sorry mess. A recent improvement has removed this inconvenience.

Where the crossing passes over the training tracks it has been heavily sanded, and where it debouches on to the centre of the course it has been built up with finely-crushed metal. The result has been to establish an allweather crossing completely free from mud or slush. The sand and metal is kept loose by regular. harrowing, and it is almost as good walking for the horses as tan.
