Australia's wool exports for the nine monuis ended on AJarun 31 were valued at £40,042,000, compared with £40,35),UUO for the 'same period of last year. ■ Important changes in the oversea destinations of these exports are disclosed by the Commonwealth Statistician.
Great Britain's purchases increased from £13,932,000 in Nthe first nine months of 1935-36, to £17,233,000 jn the first nine months of the current financial 3 rear. Japan, which spent £12,325,000 in the same period of 1035----3G, spent only £4,969,000 this year, and moved from second to fourth place in the list of Australia's best customers. Belgium is now second to Britain as a wool purchaser, having increased her purchases from £4,635,000 to £6,866,000. The United States, which occupied the position of fifth best customer a year ago, now ranks third, her purchases having increased from £1,938,000 to £5,963,000. Purchases by France have increased 'by about 30 per cent, over the last year, and for the first three-quarters of the current year amounted to £4,100,000. Germany also considerably increased purchases, from £1328,000, in the first three-quarters of last year, to £2.161,000 in the same period of the current year. I PRINCIPAL BUYERS.
From July 1 to April 30, exports of wool totalled 2,572,330 bales, a decrease of 3207 bales compared with the corresponding period of 1935-36. Shipments to the principal destinations tor the ten months of the two seasons are: 1935-36. 1936-37.

Shipments to the United Kingdom include wool sent to London for sale, portion of which is re-exported. The figures for Belgium include wool in process of transport to France. Notable increases for the ten months are shown by the United States 170,354 bales, United Kingdom 107.562 bales, Italy 84'46G-bales, Belgium 65,167 bales, Germany 31,955 bales, France 12,859 bales Czechoslovakia 7201 bales, Canada 5993 bales, and China 1492 bales. Exports to Japan display a decrease of 463,300 bales.
