DEARER POTATOES
SOUTH AMERICAN SHIPMENT
Potatoes are reported to be dearer in Auckland consequent upon the firmness in the south brought about by exports to South America. Merchants are now'nuotiug southern whites at £9 5s to £9 10s per ton, ex store, with a premium of 10s a ton for Red Dakotas.
Pukekohe onions are steady at 12s 6d per cwt. but they are now facing competition from the South Island, which are quoted 2s lower. ""•
