OPOSSUM SKINS

LONDON MARKET QUIET

(Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N., This Day.

In view of forthcoming auctions of opossum blocks in the Manawatu and Wairarapa, the following advice received from London by a Palmerston North resident who sent a parcel of skins overseas for sale, is of interest:—

"We duly put up all your skins at the recent London sales. The market continues very quiet owing tc the continued absence of facilities in the way of exchange and permits to import for continental buyers. In consequence very little was done but sales effected were on the basis of the prices ruling at the January sales. Only about 10 or 15 per cent, of the catalogues were disposed of and New Zealand greys and darks were hi very limited demand. The only sales on your account were five skins at l£d.
