COMMON PROBLEM
INTERNATIONAL. CRIME
(British Official Wireless.) (Received June 9, 1.30 p.m.)
HUGBY, June 8.
In welcoming the delegates to the iiternational Periodical Police Commission, which is for the first time meeting in London, the Home Secretary (Sir Samuel Hoare) said that it seemed strange that until comparatively recently there had been no effective machinery to co-ordinate the activities of the police forces of adjoining countries. "While in Britain we are not faced to the same extent with the problem of international crime as countries with land frontiers," he said, "every country has the problem to face."
The Commission, he said, proves to be a valuable vehicle for the study of improved methods of combating international crime by the collection of information which is discussed at these periodical conferences."
