DIRTY STREETS

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—l wish to draw attention to the condition of our streets, particularly in the city, due to men being allowed to spit on the footpaths and. around seats placed for the public to rest on. The authorities could surely enforce observance of this bylaw, at least I presume-it is a bylaw. I would suggest that inspectors be instructed to fine any man who breaks this law. I say man because I know women have more decency and respect for publichealth than tc contaminate the town in such a way. Visitors from overseas have remarked more than once on the neglected appearance of our main thoroughfares.—l am, etc.,

HEALTH.
