Interpretation of the will of Horiana Kingi, or Horiana Natanahira, chieftainess of' the Hikawera Triba, the main Wairarapa. tribe, was sought by means of an originating summons in the Supreme Court yesterday, before the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers). The chieftainess died in 1924; leaving an estate valued at £19,000, of which there is £9000 left-today.

The trustees named in the will were Hamuera Tamahau Kingi and Allan Francis Hogg, solicitor, of "Wellington, both of whom died recently. James Frederick Thompson, a solicitor, of Greytown, was appointed trustee by the Native Land Court on the death of Mr. Hogg, and now that Hamuera Tamahau Kingi has died he seeks interpretation of the will.

, Mr. Thompson appeared for himself; Mr. S. A. Wiren for the defendant and the estate; Mr. A. T. Young for the Native trustee and administrator with the will annexed of the late Erueti Takana Kingi and as trustee- of Rumatiki Erueti Parker, or Kingi; Mr. E. P. Hay for the Native trustee in his capacity as trustee of James Ross; and Mr. F. T. Clerefor Putu te Apatu, as executrix of the will of Tina Kowhia Renata, another descendant. • Decision was reserved.
