BALL AT CABARET
Under shaded lights and in a setting of flowers, the Majestic Cabaret was a pleasing scene, last evening when the annual Treasury Ball was held there. Bunches of softly-tinted balloons were tied to the pillars and the .balcony round the foyer. Irises, narcissi, and chrysanthemums emphasising the colour scheme of purple and gold were arranged in pottery bowls and vases on the tables placed about the dance floor and in. the foyer, while the final touch of festivity was: given by the light scattered by a revolving glitter ball.
Entertainment of a bright order was provided by Mr. David Devitt, who presented beautifully-frocked ballets, tap dance, and song numbers in quick succession. The items submitted were as follows:—Tap ballet, "Alexander's Rag Time Band," in which the Misses Cross, Rose, Griffin, Jackson, Cathcart, Nolan, Pipe, Ryan, Bowtell, Davis, Hill, Jones, Messrs. Greer, Hood, Calder, Aitken, and Hamilton partii ipated; dance trio, "Valse Continental" < Donanwe'llen), by Miss Beryl Rose,' Lesley Jackson, and Mr. Charles St;-wart; and a quick tap by Charles Stewart and Jack Greer. Then followed a tap dance, "San Francisco," by Miss Marjorie Flanagan; a song, "It's a Sin to Tell a Lie," by Miss Roberta Griffin, with the Misses Cross, Jackson; Rose, Cathcart, and Nolan. "Wriggletto," a specialty, proved clever and amusing, and the ballet, "Beautiful Lady in Blue," by the David Devitt dancers, won pronounced applause. The committee comprised Misses P.
