A CHILD'S ESCAPE
People walking along West End Lane, Hampstead, England, saw a child fall 50 feet to the ground from the window cf a top fiat. They ran to her, expecting to find her dead. But Brenda Christine Stebbings, aged three and a half, was alive, though gravely injured. Her fall had been broken by an iron bar. All that happened months ago. She was taken to New End Hospital, Hampstead. It was thought that, with leg and hip injuries, she would not recover. Two operations were carried out. Slowly and skilfully the child was nursed back to health and strength. Skill of the surgeon, physician, and nurse have made her almost well again. She can even walk a little without support.
. During the year ended March 31 last, a total of 280,139 head of sheep were railed from the four principal coast stations to destinations in the Waikato, an increase of 45,975 over the previous season.
