GIFT FROM PUPILS

TO MR. & MRS. W. A. ARMOUR

■ After the usual morning -assembly at Wellington College yesterday the head prefect, L. W.\Gandar, on behalf of the boys■ of "the school, presented to the headmaster, .Mr. W. A. Armour, and Mrs. Armour, a silver, coffee service'to mark the: twenty-fifth anniversary of, their wedding.

In making the presentation the head prefect mentioned that it was to have been made on April. 14, but the sudden closing of the schools. had caused a postponement. • Mr. Armour, he said, was in his tenth year, at Wellington College, and had completed 25 years of. headmastership. 'He: referred appreciatively .to the many ' ways in which Mrs.- Armour had identified herself with the life of the' College and the lead, she had given in so many of its social .activities.; Both boarders and day pupils were fortunate in having Mr. and Mrs. Armour at the helm and while, they were at'the college its high repute would be maintained and enhanced. • ■

Returning thanks for. the generous gift,.the headmaster said that his aim had always been to make Wellington College the best in the land, and he referred to the importance of the secondary school years in a boy's life. He thanked Mrs. Armour and the -masters for the splendid support he had received from them. He felt that at times he had been given credit that really belonged to the members of his staff. • .....
