JEAN HARLOW DEAD
(Received June 8, 9 a.m.) HOLLYWOOD, June 7. The screen star Jean Harlow, who was stricken ill some days ago, it dead. It was reported that her condition had improved, and her physician stated that though the malady continued to be painful, it was not dangerous. Miss Harlow took a turn for the worse today after the earlier improvement. She was taken to hospital suffering from uremic poisoning, which followed an infection of the gall bladder, and lapsed into unconsciousness. Two blood transfusions and intravenous solutions were administered. She had persisted in working, although she complained of great pain. Jean Harlow, the original "platinum blonde," whose sensational rise i.i popular favour was one of the most remarkable stories of modern films, was boru in Kansas City, Kansas, on March 3, 1911. She was sft 2in in height, and her white-gold hair and blue eyes made her a most unusual type. She was launched in a manner which could scarcely fail to bring her a following in "Hell's Angels." Previously1 she had been playing in Hal. fioache comedies. She also appeared in "Saturday Night Kid," "Public Enemy," "Platinum Blonde," "The Secret Six," "Beast.of the City." "Red Dust," "Dinner at Eight;" "Hold Your Man," "Reckless," "China Seas," "Riff Ran," "Wife v. Secretary," and "Suzy," and she has made another film, not yet released, "Man in Possession." Her real name was Bello, her parents being Marino and Janet Bello, and she was educated at Barstow School and Ferry Hall, Lake Forest, Illinois. Sts was married several times.
