SPRINGBOK TEAM
SPEED OF FORWARDS
BIG SCORE AT ADELAIDE
ADELAIDE, June 6. The touring Springbok Rugby team had simply another practice match on Saturday, when it overwhelmed South Australia by 55 points to 3. The manager, Mr. Percy Day, said the performance of the visitors was entirely satisfactory in view of the limited opportunity to train. Many passes were fumbled, and for a period the backs showed uncertainty, but they expect an improvement when training begins in earnest. The remainder of the 29 players were given a try-out, the first batch having played in Western Australia. The speed and agility of the burly forwards was remarkable. The pai> ticular star was G. Brand (full-back), who converted eight tries and kicked a penalty goal. There were numbers of brilliant movements which' provided an education to South Australian players. T. Harris, J. Eester, and D. O. Williams were a strong combination. L. Babrow; was another classy player. Brand wag amazing in his left-foot punts and drop-kicks. The forward play and cross-kicking of the Springbok pack was also a revelation to South Australia. Tries were scored for the Springboks by Bester (3), Williams, A. D. Lawton, P. dv Toit. and L. Babrow. two each; W. E. Bastard and P. de Villiers, one. Wills kicked a penalty goal for South Australia.
