TEACHING STAFFS
EFFECT OF TRANSFERS
"There is one disadvantage in the present system of education that calls for comment," states the annual report of the Karori School Committee, to be presented at a general meeting of householders tomorrow night. "It is the seeming unnecessary transfer of teachers from one school to another. There seems no reason why a teacher should not secure an increased emolument •without having to go to another school, which is the cause of disorganisation of a teaching staff. This disorganisation, at all times, acts most detrimentally to the interests of the pupils and it is time the Education Department realised that efficient staffs should not be interfered with."
The report mentions that one matter calling for warm commendation is the action taken by the Government in increasing the capitation grants to the schools. The Karori School has benefited thereby.
