COUNCIL CHAIRMANSHIP

TIMARU, June 4.

At the annual meeting of the Mackenzie County Council today, Mr. C. J. Talbot, chairman of the New Zealand Counties' Association' and member of the Highways Board, lost the chairmanship of the council. Mr. W. R. Davison was also nominated, and, the voting being even, the names were drawn from a hat, Mr. Davison being successful. Mr. Talbot .attributed his defeat to the support he gave the county amalgamation proposals. Mr. Talbot was re-elected the council's delegate on the Counties' Association.
