PETONE GASWORKS
ENGINEER APPOINTED
The appointment of Mr. Duncan Macpherson as engineer in charge of manufacture and distribution is announced by the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board.
Mr. Macpherson, who will take up his duties at the beginning of July, served". a five-year apprenticeship at the Beith Gas Company (Scotland), and was then on the staff of Mr. C. Fairweather, consulting gas .engineer^ of Kilmarnock. He was later appointed engineer-manager of the Kilbirnie Gas Company, Scotland. When he came to New Zealand Mr. Macpherson became engineer-manager of the gasworks at Port Chalmers, and then at Marton. At present he is gas engineer to E. Rabbidge and Company, Wellington.
Mr. Macpherson is the holder of a first-class diploma in gas engineering at the Royal Technical College, Glasgow, and has gamed prizes in chemistry and mechanical drawing. He is a gold medallist of the Waverley Gas Association, Scotland.
