LATE MR. SHRIMPTON

REPRESENTATIVE FUNERAL

N The funeral of the late Mr. E. A. Shrimpton, a former Chief Telegraph Engineer, took place today, the Rev. D. J. Davies, Kilbirnie; officiating at the service in the house and at the graveside.' The chief mourners were Messrs. G. Shrimpton (Wellington), F. S. Shrimpton (Timaru), and A. G. Shrimpton (Wellington). The pall-bearers were Messrs. E. H. Mclnnes and H. S. Kennedy (Standard Telephones), F. S. Shrimpton,, A. G. Shrimpton, C. S. Plank, 'late Chief Engineer of the P. and T. Department, and Mr. E. H. Lawn, superintending engineer of the G.P.O.

There was a large gathering, the representatives of the P. and T. Department including Messrs. F. Shanks, Acting Director-General, J. Young, Acting Deputy Director General, J. McDermott, chief engineer, J. Robertson, late Deputy Director-General, A. D. Baggs, . Auckland staff, P, and T., S. A. Ogilvie, head office, H. J. Hounsell and P. D. Miles, superintending engineers, and J. J. Knight, chief engineer's staff. Standard Telephones were also represented by Mr. G. H. J. Underwood.

The late Mr. E. A. Shrimpton was one of the earliest members of the Institute of Electrical Engineers, and of the New Zealand Institute of Civil Engineers. He was also prominently identified with the New Zealand Federation of Radio Traders.
