COLOUR IN THE SKY

Londoners recently enjoyed a wonderful display of one of the most beautiful of sky phenomena. During the afternoon large patches of cloud were extensively tinted with colourings of .pinky red and green. The colouring on each cloud mass was generally not long-lived, but as the shading faded on it, another mass took up the same colouring. While the phenomenon known as iridescence, is not uncommon, it is unusual to see it over such'extended masses of cloud.
