BRITISH-ISRAEL LECTURE
It is evident that Ihe series of lectures being given in the Trades -Hall under the auspices of Mr. W. E. Wilson is arousing keen interest amongst the Wellington public. The hall was again packed last Wednesday night when another lecture was delivered by Mr. V R. Brown, who dealt with the subject "The Coming World Dictator." Aided by mskiy coloured lantern slides, the lecturer described the three main dictators of the world, and by extracts from reliable publications showed that the conduct of each1 of
these men up to the present time was not such as would cause right-thinking people to place confidence in any of them as qualified for the task of solving the world's problems. Indeed, their influence seemed to bring fear rather than confidence. The ruthless, aggressive methods adopted were most abhorrent to peace-loving nations who were looking on with apprehension at their deceit and unfair practices in connection with the Spanish civil war. Democracy was advocated as the soundest and safest form o£ government under existing conditions, and the speaker pointed out that the AngloSaxon peoples were whole-hearted in
their desire for that form of government.
At this juncture the speaker left the main theme of his subject to deal with the rise and fall of the Gentile nations, and inferred that prophecy points to
the fact that we arc to expect "The Coming Dictator" to emerge from Israel and not a Gentile Power. Israel, as the "Stone Kingdom," was alone privileged to "break in pieces and subdue all other nations," and therefore to produce a dictator capable of bringing the world under proper control, and into a position of complete prosperity. The dictator's identity and the place from which he will rule the world was a subject of such importance and magnitude that the speaker intimated that these questions would be clearly portrayed and answered at the next lecture to be delivered on Wednesday, June 9.
Hemlock lias been declared a noxious weed within the Hull County.
