LEVIN CLEARING SALE.
A successful clearing sale of dairy stock was conducted by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company at Roslyn Road, Levin, on Wednesday; on behalf of Mrs. A. Avery, who has sold her property. There was a large attendance of buyers and competition ■ was keen, the herd averaging the satisfactory price of £11 a head. This was no doubt due to the fact that the cows offered were young and in excellent condition, the majority being close to profit. Prices ranged as follows:— Cows: Recently calved, £10 to £15, June calvers. £9 10s to £15; July calyers. £10 to £14; August calvers, £8 to £12; September calvers, £9 to £12 15s; October calvers, £7 to £10 ss. Heifers: Close to profit, £10 to £16 5s- weaners, £1 10s to £3 2s 6d Other lots: Bulls, £5 to £5 15s; sows to farrow, £3 10s to £3 17s 6d; fowls, 5s to'l3s a pair; ducks, 9s 6d a pair. A selected herd of cows with good butterfat backings was sold on account of Mr. W. L. Cressy. These brought from £9 to £13 10s, and averaged £11 11s a head.
