RAIN AT WANGANUI

Soaking rain fell last night and there were heavy showers during training operations this morning, the going being soft. The arrivals yesterday included Hunting Maid, Sporting Song, Kentucky Song, Te Huia, Tonnerre, Taro, and The Sandwich-Man. Sporting Song and Kentucky .Song jumped three hurdles well. They later galloped seven furlongs, the last half taking 51Jsec. Ben Braggie went a half in 50sec. Dictate", had the better of The Sandwich Man over three furlongs in 37 4-ssec. Clarion Call and Hunting Queen went six furlongs in lmin 20 4-ssec. Master Norval ran three furlongs in 39 l-ssec, Brazen King, in a similar task,, did;the same time. John Charles and Contact ran five furlongs in lmin Bsec. . Tonnerrewent 'a solid round, hitting out well. Platter ran half a mile in 54sec, and Tiger Gain finished: better than Royal Banquet and Ethiop at the end of seven furlongs in lmin 33Jsec. Reipar has gone amiss and will not start at the meeting, though not yet scratched. -i," Dictate was scratched for the , ; Balgownle Handicap at 11.25 this moping.;.
