BONNIE ROLLOX TO RUN
(By "Rangatlra.")
Trentham will now have only three runners at Wanganui the coming week, and the work on the tracks was quiet this'morning. None of the Wanganui candidates was seriously galloped. The weather was dull and the track a little greasy after overnight rain. Myriam (5.,, Wilson) was sent a round at three-quarter pace and she came home the. last half-mile in 56see. She is very fit at present and should do herself credit on the trip. Galteemore- (A. Bennet) was sent over seven furlongs alone, and, without being extended, he took lmin 40sec, the last half-mile in 58isec... Bonnie Rollox was given a-round of .strong work and then cantered on the lead in the centre. His only school since last racing was on Tuesday morning, when he acquitted himself satisfactorily. He is now likely to run at Wanganui, "as anything might happen in such a small field over country, and the stake might be easy picking up for a horse who is fairly safe with his fences. Among the 'others to work was Gabriel, who has been honoured with a nomination for the Melbourne Cup. Gabriel. (R. Rae) , went with the halfbrother' by Tractor to Luna Lux (J. Nicolson), and they took lmin 15sec for five furlongs, the last half-mile in, 60sec. Gabriel is a lazy horse, and as yet he does not seem to possess a great deal of pace. His entry for Melbourne was made mainly; because his trainer might later on transfer to Victoria. ; , Rona.Baywas out exercising,, but is now to'have a short respite.'.She may be returned in time for the Wellington Meeting next month. Riding engagements for Wanganui include:—N. Trillo, Bonnie Rollox; P. Burgess, Sporting. Song, Ngatirahiri; S. Wilson,' Gay Boy. Hunting Lodge, Malibu, Myriam;'D. W. Bush, Platter; E. Burgess, Beau Gallante;" W. Doyle, Galteemore. At Ellerslie Boomerang will be ridden' in the Cornwall Handicap by the apprentice C. L. Goulsbro'. j J i
